Parent & Child Class, hoppin good fun!

Linda playi... preparing!

Hi all,
Linda (Mum!) loves teaching the Parent & Child classes. Truth be told I think it just gives her a good excuse to play. :)

One of the projects is creating an Easter birds nest. The page has a cute pocket at the top with scallop edged eggs for photos. Wendy and I just played rock, paper, scissors as to who will have to vacuum afterward... I lost. hehehee

Keeping with the Easter theme the second of the three projects is this very cute Easter Bunny page....

His nose swivels to reveal a photo!

Yes, there are spaces available for this class running this Saturday 28th March at 1pm. The Parent and Child class is suitable for 4 - 8 year old children accompanied by a guardian. Cost for the class is just $20 per child and includes all materials. Phone 09 912 0665 to book.

Fairest of them all collection is so pretty

Gotta Buy Basics Collection
We love rub-ons! Gotta Buy Basics are your stand-by product when you just need that little something else. I used some of these yesterday and come with my recommendation, they transferred beautifully even onto a highly painted surface (yes you can use rub-ons for all sorts of things, not just scrapbook pages).

Gotta buy basics from the Bazzill collection

The added bonus is the additional rhinestone option. Each sheet is two step. Use the rub-ons on their own or add the rhinestone embellishment for the wow factor!

Two categories in this collection:
Bazzill Basics - classic designs in colours that co-ordinated with our Bazzill cardstock favourites.
Say the word - Themed word rub-ons. Choose from happienss words, baby, girlfriends, wedding and more.

Gotta Buy Basics - Happiness words

Little Yellow Bicycle

Product Preview Take Home Project Instructions

Hi folks,
Here is the instructions for our Product Preview Imaginsce & Little Yellow Bicycle Take Home project:

Castle Mini-canvas
  1. Stamp the castle stamp three times onto white cardstock.
  2. Cut out one of the castle images completely and colour with watercolour pencils, brush markers or other colouring medium of your choice.
  3. Lay the castle image onto your mini canvas and use it as a guide to wash background scenery onto your canvas. Our canvas has the top third in blue and white for sky, apricot mid-third, and green for the bottom third as grass. Glue the castle onto the canvas once the background is dry.
  4. From the second stamped image cut out the middle turret of the castle and the top of the left and right turrets and colour. Layer on top of the castle on your canvas and adhere with foam dots.
  5. From the third stamped image cut out the triangle roof, two daisy windows and the little doorway. Colour and adhere to your canvas with more foam dots to create a dimensional effect.
  6. Create a hang tie for your canvas by folding the pink ribbon in half. Tie the silver cord tightly about 4cm down from the fold. Tie a bow with the silver cord. Glue the ribbon to the back of the canvas with the silver bow peaking just about the canvas edge.
  7. Complete by adding Kindyglitz to the stamped details on the castle.
We have some additional kits for this projects available for sale. Kit includes Imaginsce Castle acrylic stamp, mini canvas, cardstock,, foam dots and ribbon. $9.90 each.

Enjoy!

Altered Arts Magazine & Texture Paste Class

Altered Arts Magazine - Spring 2009

Hi all,
The latest Altered Arts Magazine has arrived in store. There are some interesting articles on incorporating beads into your artwork, improving your inkjet printing and my latest article entitled Creating with Texture Paste.

Texture Paste is one of our favourite mediums here at NZ Scrapbook. If you haven't tried texture paste, basically it is an opaque medium that holds its form once it dries. That means you can push it through stencils, stamp into it, paint with it. You can then paint over it, glaze it, emboss over it...in fact in the article I list 16 different ways of using this versatile medium, perhaps you can come up with more!

The red bird on this journal spread is made with an impasto technique on a diecut shape.

If you would like to try texture paste under the guidance of a class I am running a Creating with Texture Paste workshop this Thursday at 7pm. Cost for the class is $55 and includes materials, a full jar of Jo Sonja Texture paste and the latest issue of Altered Arts Magazine.

Phone 09 912 0665 to book.
