Cricut Gypsy (and now Expressions) catch up!

Last week Cricut Gypsy expert Gina had a great morning sharing ideas and techniques for using the Cricut Gypsy... and as a result the participants set themselves some homework to practice what they learned and will be back this week with more questions and queries on advanced ideas.

Cricut Gypsy goes hand in hand with the Cricut Expressions so we are opening up this morning catch up session for those of you who also have questions regarding the use of the Expressions machine.

Find out exactly how to do that technique you have seen but just don't know where to start.. Gina may just have the answer (thanks Gina!! ).

Just $15 to attend, there is no formal project but lots of information and personalized demonstrations. Morning tea provided.

Girls Creative Night Out

Escape the winter blues this Wednesday 25th August for a special event class Girls Creative Night Out.

At this evening event you will create this texture rich layered layout using the Mariposa range from Die Cuts with a View. Glittery butterflies, intricate scrolls, soft creams - this photo doesnt do these beautiful papers justice! With full instructions, friendly teaching and photo reference in case you don't get finished our classes are fun, relaxed and generous so you can come along and simply have a great time and leave with a pretty layout for your album too.

A change of pace this week with a Vintage Collage layout featuring beautiful antique styled papers in a torn background technique, metallic embossing, heat embossing, stamping and walnut ink techniques. Suitable for all levels of scrapbooker. Phone 09 912 0665 to book.

ATC Stand makes a great swap pin display

7 Gypsies brand do a wonderful rotating Artist Trading Card stand display. By attaching your cards to 7 Gypsies notched cards they then slot onto the stand to you can rotate, see and enjoy your and your friends creation.

So what about those Swap Pins you picked up and exchanged at craft fairs and gatherings? Linda had a great idea of displaying hers on an ATC stand.

This is what the empty stand look like. It is solid and the central portion rotates.

You take your Swap Pin (this one actually could double as an ATC due to its dimensions and style) and adhere it to a plain or printed 7 Gypsies Notch card.

Then details removed or transferred from the back and attached or written onto the card. Card is now ready to be slotted onto the stand. Cool and simple!

You can also create your own notch cards by using a 7 Gypsies notch punch. Using the stand as a guide you can then put slots into any colour or designed background card you wish.

Cards and pins are then displayed onto the stand ready to be enjoyed! A couple of pins Linda received had hanging attachments so were able to hang them conveniently off the top of the stand itself.

Cuttlebug 110 Techniques Workshops 5 - 8
Date: Saturday 7th August
Time: 9am - 4pm

Please bring: Your Cuttlebug, boards, scissors, adhesives and a packed lunch or there are food vendors nearby.

Continuing with our weekend Cuttlebug series - that is, we ran 1-4 workshops about 6 weeks ago. This Saturday we have Workshops 5, 6, 7 & 8. If you didn't make it to the first four that is fine, you are still welcome to come along for this session. This is a great way to expand on your Cuttlebug techniques. Artist Trading Cards - Commonly known as ATC's are a popular hobby among artists and crafters as a way of sharing their art and collecting little pieces from other artists and around the world.
In this class we will be making textured backgrounds, learning about designing a series, embellishment ideas and the basics of ATC's. We will each make a series of cards and then there will be opportunity for trading at the end if you wish. Class fee includes an image pack for future Artist Trading Card creation.

Date: Saturday 28th August

Class fee: $25 Including materials.

Taught by staff member David Simpson this class is for all men who wish to make their Mum, wife, girlfriend, sister, daughter, co-worker.. pretty much any girlie type a handmade card and gift bag. A sure win! Don't worry boys - there are tools for scrapbooking too and David will lead the way. No crafting experience necessary. Would be suitable for Dads and sons to attend together.

Copic classes for August/September

Hi friends,

More chances to learn Copic Marker techniques this month!
We have evening classes starting THIS Thursday 5th August, daytime classes starting Tuesday 10th August at 10am and a full day workshop Saturday 4th September.

Copic Markers are beautiful for colouring stamped and drawn images and lettering. I haven't come across anything that blends quite so beautifully and vibrant before! Come along and learn the techniques involved in using these fantastic colouring pen.

Here's a starter - The blender pen ISN'T really a blender pen at all! At Workshop Two you will find out why :)



Copic Workshop Dates for August/September 2010:

Session One - Copic basics and Colouring
All about Copic markers - pen basics. Choosing papers and inks. How to test papers and inks. Basic colouring including FOUR blending techniques.

Date: Thursday 5th August at 6.30pm and Tuesday 10th August at 10am
Class fee: $20
Materials requirement: Scissors & adhesives, Pen Colours: R00 Pinkish White, R02 Flesh, Y00 Barium Yellow, Y02 Canary Yellow, 0 Colourless Blender, Copic Multi Liner Black in size .5
Full colour handouts, folder and materials provided.

Session Two - Creative Techniques
Using the Colourless Blender - Highlights, fading to white, fixing mistakes, patterns. Mixed media effects.

Date: Thursday 12th August at 6.30pm and Tuesday 17th August at 10am
Class fee: $20
Materials requirement: Scissors & adhesives, no additional pens needed we will use the same colours from the last session.


Session Three - Selective colouring methods
Considering light in basic shading. Hair techniques, skin techniques. Putting it all together in a project.

Date: Thursday 19th August at 6.30pm and Tuesday 24th August at 10am
Class fee: $20
Materials requirement: Scissors & adhesives. A skin combination and one or two hair combinations (may be shared with a friend) - colours advised. Pens used in previous session. Attendance of Week One and Two is required to attend this session.


Full day workshop (Sessions One, Two and Three back to back)
Date: Saturday 4th September 10am - 4.30pm
Class fee: $60 (option: Sessions One and Two only $40)
