Its never been easier to learn scrapbooking than during the month of July!

New Zealand Scrapbook, New Zealand and Australia's largest scrapbook store has surpassed it's record number of classes in one month this July 2010.

There are 54 classes lined up for you to choose from just in July alone.
54!!

and that's not including any special event classes we choose to add along the way. Not to mention private bookings and birthday parties. (ask in store for more info about those)

This is so exciting! Make sure you are part of this record breaking creative learning fun by participating in a workshop this month.

I have the July class schedule that I'm going to try to insert here. Hopefully if you click on it you can then print it off on your computer if you wish. It is missing a couple of classes since they were added after this was made (like Sarah's new Creative Workshop class). I plan to try an add those classes in.. I'm just not sure how to make it all fit!

Hi all,
Our class schedule continues to grow and grow.. and we are pleased to announce that New Zealand Scrapbook Design Team member Sarah Groen is now teaching classes starting July!

Sarah has been on our design team for a number of years now, is a nationally and internationally published scrapbooker and has been featured in our Interview With blog series (be sure to check that great interview out to learn more about Sarah). Her family of six children keeps her very busy yet her passion of scrapbooking has her creating in what we joke as 'her spare time'.
In her words "Its time to try something new" So Sarah is sharing what she knows in her new scrapbooking classes Creative Scrapbooking with Sarah Groen.

I just know you are going to love learning from this experienced scrapbooker and communicator. Her first class will run Tuesday 27th July at 7pm.

You will be able to select papers from the store and will leave with a completed layout for your Heritage Album.

Copic News

Hi friends,
If you have been following this blog (and watching my crazy vids) you will know that we have the Copic Marker bug here at New Zealand Scrapbook.

I have used a lot of different markers and colouring tools over the years but none blend and are as vibrant as these lovely art markers. I have now taught two series of the three part classes now (one series running weekly finishing last night and one back to back last Saturday) and both classes our participants went home excited and itching to put into practice what they learned. If you missed these classes book now for the August sessions!


Copic Workshop Dates for August:

Week One - Thursday 5th August at 6.30pm
About Copic markers - pen basics. Choosing papers and inks. How to test papers and inks. Basic colouring including FOUR blending techniques.
Class fee: $20
Materials requirement: Scissors & adhesives, Pen Colours: R00 Pinkish White, R02 Flesh, Y00 Barium Yellow, Y02 Canary Yellow, 0 Colourless Blender, Copic Multi Liner Black in size .5
Full colour handouts, folder and materials provided.


Week Two - Thursday 12th August at 6.30pm
Using the Colourless Blender - Highlights, fading to white, fixing mistakes, patterns. Mixed media effects.
Class fee: $20
Materials requirement: Scissors & adhesives, no additional pens needed we will use the same colours from the last session.


Week Three - Thursday 19th August at 6.30pm
Considering light in basic shading. Hair techniques, skin techniques. Putting it all together in a project.
Class fee: $20
Materials requirement: Scissors & adhesives. A skin combination and one or two hair combinations (may be shared with a friend) - colours advised. Pens used in previous session.


By request I will schedule another full day class.. please phone with your interest.


ooh and while I am talking Copic stuff... I am New Zealand's only Copic Certified instructor...woot!
and I just won third in Copic Australia's Copic Card Challenge.. announced at the Brisbane Scrapbooking and Papercraft Convention. woot woot! heheh

Here is my entry:

The requirements were A6 card and must feature three Copic Colours (E02, Y06 and BV02). I hand drew the butterfly (twice), coloured the individual designs and cut them out (painstaking! lol) , layered them and designed pull out wings. It has hand coloured lace and a crackle background with threads and beads.

When I get the card back I will take some close up photos and write a bit of a guide... it was a very involved card but enjoyable to do.


So anyways, I have some illustrating projects that I am LOVING with the Copic Multi-liners and colouring with the pens.. yum!

Mother and Daughter Workshop - this Saturday

Hi Scrapbookers,

I always get so pleased when we pass the shortest day of the year... I tell myself that the days are getting longer again and it's getting lighter in the morning - and try to ignore the fact that the coldest days are probably yet to come! douh!

With the escapist theme in mind lets delve into our Summer photos for this months Mother and Daughter workshop. Paula has created this lovely summer page, cleverly using bright patterned papers and beads to create a sun background. Bring along your Summery themed photos and have a reminiscent afternoon.

We use the title Mother and Daughter loosely... last month we had Mums and sons (now there's an idea), and of course dads, nieces and honorary nieces are all welcome.

Looking for fun things to do with the kids these School Holidays? Here at New Zealand Scrapbook we have a wonderful line up of workshops for the full two weeks (except Fridays).

School Holiday Program - July 2010

So as you can see from our video there is lots to choose from. At each class participants will create the main project advertised plus opportunity to personalise or even make an extra project - we use the full allocated time to keep the children creatively entertained.

Each session includes all materials and a yummy morning tea. Come along to one or two sessions or all eight. New kid crafters welcome!

Please bring: A photo to include on your canvas, basic kit (adhesives, trimmer, scissors and pencil)

Come and create a beautiful decorated canvas for your wall, easel or to give as a personalised gift. Bring a photo of your choice and you will have the opportunity to match it up with papers from the store. You will learn how to make the pretty scalloped flowers and use texture paint pens.

Suitable for beginners through to advanced paper crafters.


Daytime Crop
Date: Wednesday 23rd June
Time: 10am - 2pm
Class fee: $10
Please bring: Your current projects, tools and materials.

Daytime opportunity to work on your scrapbooking pages and papercraft projects. Crop tutor Tracy is on hand to offer helpful assistance. Optional: You are invited if you wish to bring a lunch plate to share. All welcome.


Copic Marker - Bonus Class three
Date: Wednesday 23rd June
Time: 7 - 9pm
Class fee: $20 plus specific marker colours. (approximately 7 markers depending on what colours you already have - please phone the store for more info).
Please bring: Scissors, adhesives and Copic markers (clearly labeled) that you already have in your collection.

Wow already we are at the end of our 110 Techniques! If you have been to any of the sessions during this series you are welcome to join us for the last ten (101 - 110) techniques in this series.
