We are very pleased to announce our very first four day annual event

New Zealand Scrapbook Festival of Paperarts

Four days of back to back classes and fun celebrating paper arts in its many forms: Scrapbooking, Cardmaking, Altered Art, Mini-books, Stamping to name a few and you are invited to join us!

There is something for everyone - Including FREE Make n Take projects, crops, kids classes and fantastic Product Preview events.

As follows is our initial release of classes. Photos are unavailable for some events so check back for regular updates. Bookings Open Now.
Booking information can be found at the end of this post. Also printed calender of the schedule and booking forms can be picked up in store.

Monday 13th
7pm–9pm
(Pre-festival class for new scrapbookers)
Beginners Workshop Designed for the first time scrapbooker, we will introduce you to scrapbooking basics, help you make a page and answer any questions you may have. Class fee is $10 including materials.
Register for any other classes during the Festival and you will receive vouchers for this or Wednesday’s Beginners Workshop FREE.

7pm–9pm

Nestabilities Layout Designed by Nestabilities/Spellbinder founder Stacy Caron this layout will show you some of the wonderful cutting, embossing and stenciling techniques that can be used with these die-cutting tools. Nestabilities Card Class Conveniently scheduled after the Nestabilities layout class continue your creating with Spellbinder dies in this Nestabilities Card Class. These are the cards we learnt at the retailer training day so are full of techniques.

Create this bright and fun Boy layout with Michelle R

Thursday 16th July

Jacob’s Ladder Class This surprising mini album flips in a mystery like fashion. Learn and create its simple construction ready to add photos at home. Stay tuned for a video here on our blog of the book in action. Class Fee $35 including materials.

Lots of UTEE and embossing techniques in this workshop

10am–12pm
UTEE and Embossing Techniques In paper arts nothing else quite has the wow factor like embossing. In this technique based class learn introductory and advanced methods of heat
embossing with stamps and usage of UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). Class Fee $30 including materials.

Diane's cute and clever Holiday Treat Book - pastel cupcake option available too

Holiday Treat Mini-book Create this cute mini book complete with yummy treat recipes. Special guest tutor Diane Warner will take you through the construction step-by- step. Suitable

Artist Trading Cards with Kathleen Mixed Media artist and NZ Scrapbook store owner Kathleen Green has been creating and trading Artist Trading Cards from around the world for the past six years. Come along to this creative class and learn techniques that will have you trading with your arty friends in no time. Suitable for all levels. Comes with a great mixed media collage pack to get you started. $45 including materials for the class and collage pack.

Canvas workshop - bring a photo and we will help you match papers and embellishments

Canvas Class Learn simple techniques for creating a decorated canvas using scrapbook papers and embellishments. Suitable for all levels of paper crafter. Class Fee $55 including materials.

Collage Recipe Stand

10am–12pm
Collage Recipe Stand Workshop Echoing bygone eras this collaged recipe stand is a delight to create and can be varied using the materials you will receive in a fabulous collage pack
you will receive by attending this class. This workshop is suitable for all levels of paper crafter. Class fee is $75 and includes materials and mixed media collage pack. Teacher: Kathleen Green

Parent & Child Class Linda’s popular Parent & Child Class gets a special festival twist. Share the fun of scrapbooking and paper crafts with the children in your life. Suitable for 4-8year child with a adult guardian. Class Fee $20 including materials.

Kids Class Children aged 8-15 years are invited to attend this scrapbooking workshop. Participants are encouraged to make creative decisions, while making a scrapbook page of their own. Suitable for beginners and experienced scrapbookers. Class Fee $15 including materials.

Special Festival Events

Daily free Make’n'Take Projects Every day during the Festival we have FREE Make n Take projects you can participate in. From 10am – 4pm each day a different project will be
available for you to create. Come to one or come to all four! Great for beginners, kids, intermediate and advanced crafters. Visit this blog during the festival to see each days project.


Tuesday 14th 7pm–9pm
Opening Night Event
The evening starts with refreshments as you browse a firsthand look at the upcoming workshops and make’n’takes scheduled for the festival days. Followed by a stunning layout project using some of our favourite products. Event fee $29 and includes materials for the layout, refreshments and automatic entry to win some great prizes!

Wednesday 15th 7pm–9pm
Festival Special Product Preview
If you have been to our Product Preview events you will know how fun and great value they are. Stay tuned for the announcement of what great brand we will be featuring! Product Preview ticket prices are $25 and includes project pack and materials, tea/coffee to follow and entry in to win featured product prizes.


Thursday 16th 7pm–9pm
Painless Journaling Take Two Festival special.
Our original Painless Journaling special event has been one of the highlights of our workshop calendar for 2009. This festival event has a completely new layout but same great journaling problem solving attitude. Event Fee $25 for this content full, inspiring workshop. Includes materials and entry in to win more great prizes.


Friday 17th 6pm–12am
Festival Crop Event – Retro Baby!
6pm – midnight come in your 60’s, 70’s or 80’s garb to be in to win the Best dressed prizes. Scrap the night away to the Beetles, Abba, Elvis, Janice, The Doors… through to Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. Make a fun retro mini-project, enjoy light supper and have more than a few
laughs. Bring your current scrapbooking or paper crafts projects and be ready for a great time! Crop event just $15 to attend.


Saturday 18th 6pm–7pm
Festival After Party
At the New Zealand Scrapbook Festival of Paper Arts After Party we will be making special
presentations and drawing of our Festival Grand Prize. All welcome, free to attend. From 6-7pm though you are welcome to stay on until longer if you wish. Come join us for the wrap!

Creative Thursday Action at NZ Scrapbook

We would love to have you along to our fun Thursday night crop nights!
Crop nights are an open night to work on your pages and have helpful assistance from our friendly Crop Tutor Michelle Reid. Come along on your own or with a group for progress on your pages, cup of tea and chat plus you have the whole store selection at your fingertips so you can choose that perfect paper or embellishment.

Crop nights are just $10 to attend and we keep a tab for you during the evening of any products you may wish to purchase. No bookings necessary. All welcome!

Paper stands are easily adaptable for your needs. This is a picture of the stands set up in my workroom. Six wire racks allow me to sort my paper into patterned paper, specialty paper and cardstock rows and then divided by colour in rainbow order. I can always see exactly what I have (and therefore use it), find what I want easily and the paper is stored damage free. Small pieces less than A4 size are filed by colour in clear files. Tiny pieces (yes I use it all) are in a small box on my worktable.

Book of Me Series III

Hi everyone,

The third series of the very popular Book of Me classes are about to start up again. We have had a great response to these Book of Me classes with a wonderful group of ladies coming along and creating some fantastic pages and it's not too late to join in.

This series takes us through the following topics:

Week One - Your favourite season - your seasonality
Week Two - 8 days a week - a snapshot into a week in your life
Week Three - Quotable! - an exploration into how words effect your life
Week Four - A blast from the past - a place to record those special memories
Week Five - Treasured possessions - a page dedicated to a possession or items that are of sentimental value
Week Six - Up till now - let's record your journey up till now

Here is my sample for Week one - your favourite season which of course for me is Summer. I have completed a multi-photo layout highlighting various photos that I have loved from summers' past, using some basic grey paper and complementary bright cardstock. I have thoroughly enjoyed creating such a warm and inviting page when it has been so COLD outside at the moment.
