Carved up a great weekend!

Hi All!
What a great weekend we had here at NZ Scrapbook! Back to back classes and lots of creativity!

Linda's Parent & Child class hit max numbers to date and was NUTS. hehehee. Wee kids can scrap! I didn't get any photos of the class this week which was a shame because would you believe Mum got the kids PAPER MARBLING for their scrapbook pages.... too much fun.

Technique tidbit: Easy paper marbling
Fill a tray or plastic container with water. It only needs to be a couple of inches deep and the container large enough to hold your desired paper.
Hold your Scrapbooking Chalk (Craft T Products, Ek Success and Creative Collage do great ones) over the water and scrape the surface of the chalk so that the dust floats into the water. Choose a 2-3 colours that go well together.
Lay your paper or cardstock onto the surface of the water and then lift off and allow to dry. Your paper will now be coated with a beautiful smudge proof marble pattern!

I love that we are getting so many out of towner's visiting our store and then staying for classes. We had a lovely family from Melbourne join us. Mum shopped, Dad and daughter made pages in the Parent and Child Class - very cool! If you know you will be traveling to our area and can't see a class on our calender - DO ASK. We have been known to slot in special requests.

As the Parent & Child class wrapped up, in for the second shift was our older children. Fenn led our pre-teen scrappers through the beautiful above page using transparencies, Cricut and Cuttlebug embossing on a photo. Each participant could choose papers to match their photo and the resulting layouts were stunning.

The kids class departed and the big kids - I mean 13 lovely ladies (hehe) arrived. This was the first class in my new workshop series Create Your Life and we had a great time!

The featured technique was hand carving your own rubber stamps - we made word stamps, designs, learned how to transfer images onto a carving surface and look for design sources.
The emphasis was positive quotes and affirmations and the project was Artist Trading Cards (ATC's).

Here are a couple of photos of our participants work:

Next workshop we are decorating a gorgeous card box to hold our ATC's and will do some hand stitching, beads and a snazzy technique with women's stockings.

On to this week! It will be an exciting week with Easter coming. Just between you and me you will want to check your inbox or back here for news (coming soon!) of more good times ahead :)

~Byes for now!
