Product Preview: Hot off the Press "Assembled with Love!" - Take Home Project

Hi folks,

Another fantastic night last night at Product Preview: Hot off the Press "Assembled with Love!". Look out for a full photo report on the event later this week.

For those of you who joined us last night, here are the Product Preview Take Home Project instructions:

I used my sewing machine instead of adhesive to assemble my layout (except the photos). If you have a sewing machine and haven't tried it on paper yet I would really encourage you to give it a go. Not only is it SUPER FUN, FAST, EASY... it looks VERY cool. However, if it doesn't float your boat or you don't have a sewing machine you have a few other options. You can:

  • Machine stitch but trim off the hanging threads for a less messy look
  • Draw stitching lines with a black journaling pen
  • Hand stitch (big stitches!)
  • Avoid the stitching all together for a clean crisp look.

Take Home Layout Instructions

    1. Trim the lighter grey Bazzill cardstock to 8”x 11 ½” and ink the edges with black stamping ink. Machine stitch or adhere to the lower portion of the layout.
    2. Trim the white vellum to 7 1/2” x 10 ¼” and machine stitch or adhere with vellum tape to the right side of your layout. If you machine stitch it to your layout embrace the texture of the wrinkles!
    3. Mount two 4”x6”photos to the black cardstock and machine stitch/adhere to your layout centering it to the middle portion of your vellum.
    4. Fold two pieces of ribbon in half and stitch/adhere to the top and bottom right corners of your mounted photos. Attach two jumbo brads from your embellishment kit on top of the ribbon.
    5. Stitch/adhere two flowers to the bottom right corner of your layout.
    6. Using an old oval photo frame (that’s what I used) or if you want a circle a small saucer, CD or template as a guide, position medium brads from your embellishment kit spaced around the edge of your oval/circle shape in the lower left corner of your layout. Mark their positions with a pencil and then create the holes and attach them to your layout. For added interest add one or two brads of a vibrant colour.
    7. Add handwritten journaling inside your brad oval/circle.
    8. Rub the complete layout outer edges with black ink. You may wish to add small rub ons, tiny journaling with a sharpie marker, a small photo punched with a circle punch or sticker initial to the jumbo brads.

I really enjoyed the monochromatic feel to this layout with the small accent of colour. Hope you enjoy yours too!
